Reduces muscle breakdown and increase recovery.
Comprising of more than 60% of the free Amino Acid pool in the skeletal muscles and of more than 20% of total circulating Amino Acids, Glutamine is the most abundant Amino Acid in the Human body. The levels of this highly beneficial Amino Acid can severely deplete with hard training, resulting in muscle catabolism (muscle loss). As Glutamine also plays a role in Immune responses, this drop in Glutamine levels partly explains the susceptibility of hard training athletes to infections. L-Glutamine also improves the digestion track, helping the body to absorb more nutrients and metabolising other Amino Acids thus assisting in more muscular growth. Supplementing with L-Glutamine during intense training phases helps prevent a drop in Glutamine levels, thereby reducing muscle soreness and helping to rebuild muscle tissue. Research results strongly suggest that L-Glutamine supplementation during intense training plays an important role in assisting with recovery, in enhancing muscle cell volume and in preventing muscle catabolism by maintaining optimal muscle metabolism.
Approx 1 teaspoon (5g) 1-3 times daily.
